How do i create a test order in shopify

Creating a test order in Shopify is a great way to ensure that your store's checkout process is functioning properly before going live. Here are the steps to create a test order in Shopify

:

1. Enable the Bogus Gateway
To create test orders, you'll need to enable a payment gateway that allows for testing. The Bogus Gateway is a built-in feature in Shopify for this purpose.

Steps to enable Bogus Gateway:
1. Log in to your Shopify admin panel.
2. Go to Settings > Payments.
3. Scroll down to the Alternative payment methods section.
4. Click on Manage next to your current payment provider.
5. If you're using a different third-party service like PayPal, you’ll need to deactivate it temporarily to enable the Bogus Gateway.
6. Under the Payment providers section, find the Bogus Gateway and click on it.
7. Click Activate to enable the Bogus Gateway.

2. Create a Test Order
Now that the Bogus Gateway is activated, you can create a test order:

1. Go to your online store (you may want to open it in a new tab).
2. Browse your store and add a product to your cart.
3. Proceed to checkout.
4. Fill in the shipping information (you can use placeholder information).
5. When you reach the payment section, you will need to enter dummy credit card information. Use the following details:
   - Name: Any name (e.g., Test User)
   - Email: Any email (e.g., test@example.com)
   - Address: Any address
   - Credit Card Number: `4111 1111 1111 1111` (Visa test card number)
   - Expiry Date: Any future date (e.g., 12/25)
   - CVC: Any three digits (e.g., 123)
6. Complete the order.

3. Check Order in Admin
After completing the checkout process, go back to your Shopify admin and check under Orders. You should see the test order listed there.

4. Optional: Disable Bogus Gateway
Once you are done testing, it's a good idea to disable the Bogus Gateway and re-enable your normal payment gateway. Follow the same steps as before to go back to the payment settings and switch back to your original payment processor.

# Notes:
- Make sure that your store is in the "Password Protected" mode if you are still building your store and don't want real customers to see it.
- If you are using a third-party payment gateway, check their documentation for any specific testing instructions.

By following these steps, you can easily create test orders in Shopify and verify the checkout process.
